As a Cashier you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing payments accurately, and ensuring a smooth checkout experience for every customer. You will work closely with the store team to maintain an organised till area, assist with general floor duties when needed, and help create a positive shopping environment.
Responsibilities
Processing customer purchases efficiently using the point of sale system
Handling cash, card, and digital payments with accuracy and care
Providing friendly and professional customer service at all times
Answering questions, assisting with product enquiries, and guiding customers when needed
Balancing the till at the beginning and end of each shift and reporting discrepancies
Maintaining a clean and organised checkout area, including sanitising surfaces
Packing customer goods safely and ensuring fragile items are handled with care
Monitoring stock near the tills and alerting staff when items need replenishment
Following store policies and procedures to prevent losses, fraud, and errors
Assisting floor staff with basic tasks such as tidying shelves or guiding customers
Ensuring customer issues or complaints are reported to supervisors promptly
Supporting promotional activities and informing customers about current specials
Requirements
Grade 11 is Required
Strong communication and people skills with a friendly and helpful attitude
Good numerical ability and confidence in working with money
Basic computer literacy and comfort using a point of sale system
Ability to work under pressure during busy periods while remaining calm and professional
Attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow store procedures without supervision
Honesty and integrity when handling cash and customer information
Ability to stand for long periods and assist with light physical tasks
Willingness to assist in different areas of the store when required
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to good customer service
